Durabilidade extrema: A técnica de tecelagem curda envolve molhar a trama e batê-la com ferramentas pesadas de ferro. Isto comprime os nós de tal forma que o pelo fica extremamente denso e vertical, impedindo a entrada de sujidade.

Rigidez estrutural: Devido à densidade extrema da sua base, os tapetes Bidjar novos são tão rígidos que não devem ser dobrados (sob o risco de quebrar a estrutura), mas sim enrolados.

Padrões comuns: Apresentam frequentemente o motivo Herati (um peixe estilizado em torno de uma flor), medalhões centrais geométricos ou florais bem vincados, e composições de campo aberto.

Woven primarily by artisans of Kurdish origin in and around the city of Bidjar, these rugs combine the robustness of tribal work with the refinement of classic Persian designs.

Key Features

Extreme Durability: The Kurdish weaving technique involves wetting the weft and beating it with heavy iron tools. This compresses the knots in such a way that the pile becomes extremely dense and vertical, preventing dirt from entering.

Structural Rigidity: Due to the extreme density of their base, new Bidjar rugs are so rigid that they should not be folded (at the risk of breaking the structure), but rather rolled up.

Common Patterns: They frequently feature the Herati motif (a stylized fish surrounding a flower), well-defined geometric or floral central medallions, and open field compositions.

Color palette: They use rich and deep tones obtained from natural dyes, with a strong emphasis on bright red, dark blue (indigo), and touches of ivory.
